Beyond a Website: A Full POS & Inventory System for Al Safa Mart
A purpose-built Point of Sale and inventory management platform for a Pakistani supermarket — fast at-counter checkout, real-time stock tracking, and a full business reporting suite, coded from scratch instead of adapted from a generic template.
The Challenge
Al Safa Mart needed to run a real supermarket counter — fast checkout, accurate stock levels, supplier purchasing, and a clear picture of daily profit — without the delays and errors of manual, spreadsheet-based tracking. A stock template or off-the-shelf e-commerce plugin wasn't going to fit: a physical retail counter needs sales, inventory and cash to update together, in real time, the moment a sale is rung up.
The brief was to build real business software, not just a website — something staff could run the till on every day, and the owner could open once and see exactly where the business stood.

A dedicated billing screen for fast at-counter sales, with every transaction instantly reflected in stock levels, revenue and cash balance — no manual reconciliation needed.

Full product catalog with categories and brands, supplier records, and a purchasing workflow that keeps stock quantity and valuation accurate as new inventory arrives.
Live Dashboard & Alerts
Today's sales, profit, monthly revenue and expenses, cash balance and stock-level alerts — all pulled live from the database on every page load, not a static snapshot.
A Full Business Reporting Suite
Beyond day-to-day billing, the owner gets 10 dedicated reports covering every side of the business — exportable insights that a template checkout page simply can't offer:
Under the Hood
The backend is hand-coded PHP using PDO prepared queries against a normalized MySQL schema — separate tables for sales, sale items, payments, products, expenses, purchases and suppliers — so every report pulls from a single source of truth instead of duplicated, drifting data. Every dashboard page is gated behind a require_permission() check, so staff logins only ever see the sections their role is allowed to access, while the administrator account sees the full picture.
